Following on from our previous post on Chilly Gonzales, the man himself has stepped in to give us the craic on what is currently lighting up his life:

    “Cashmere

I have never worn jeans in my entire life, not because I’m “better” than jeans, but because I’m afraid of them. Jeans scare me because they represent relaxation and authenticity. Nothing scares me more than the idea of being at ease and genuine. So I choose the cerebral comfort of cashmere. Head to toe. Cashmere boxers, socks, all of it. I dream of being a letter written quill and ink, sent far away in a giant cashmere envelope. Which reminds me that I also sleep on cashmere. When I was asked to play piano at a private Hermes party, my management was looking forward to a 15% commission on a massive fee. But I asked to be paid in cashmere bedding at cost. Which explains the cashmere envelope dream. When I play the piano I try to project a ‘cashmere’ sound, aristocratic and warm. My only criticism: I don’t like that Led Zeppelin song where they claim to love cashmere but can’t even spell it correctly.”

Gonzales’ Piano Talk Shows residency at The Pigalle Club in London throughout November boasts the following line-ups:

Wednesday Nov 4th – Jarvis Cocker
Wednesday Nov 11th – Akira the Don and Marawa the Amazing (Hula Hoop Virtuoso)
    Wednesday Nov 18th – Cocknbullkid
Wednesday Nov 25 – Sam Eastgate (Late of the Pier)

All shows are priced at £10 and you can get your tickets through www.seetickets.com or www.stargreen.com

Gonzales is amazing, bought a copy of Solo Piano, its incredible!

What happens at these Piano Talk Shows? I ain’t got a clue what it entails, and theres nothing much about it on the net. I’m very tempted to go to the Sam Eastgate show…
