I was wounded the other day to find out one of my favourite songs of all time was a cover. The feeling of disappointment however was short lived when I realised that this original version was even hotter than the one I’d fallen in love with. Slower than the A CERTAIN RATIO cover, BANBARRA’s original filthy disco stomper drips with east village cool, while they originally hail from Washington! The drums and percussion are all so chunky in the mix and its impossible not to shake your tits as soon as you hear that jangly guitar intro and killer drum lick.
We had RORY PHILLIPS up at CONTORT YOURSELF the other night and by chance he dropped it in his set. Being the first time I had heard it on a loud system it galvanised it for me and is the reason I want to turn you onto this classic slice of disco filth!
